What do you accept at the transfer station?
We accept almost everything, except paint, chemicals and liquids. Here’s the list, A to Z:

What can’t I bring?
Paint, chemicals and liquids. We don’t take them at the transfer station.
Where can I take paint, chemicals and liquids?
Try the Island Community Services Recycle Depot at 349 Rainbow Rd, 250-537-1200. Please call them to confirm what they accept.
Can I bring green waste?
Yes. Bring grass clippings, leaves and garden trimmings. We turn them into compost.
Do I need special paperwork to bring drywall?
Yes. Every load needs a signed Declaration and Acknowledgement Form, regardless of the date.
- New, never-installed gypsum drywall (no tape, paint or mud; “cut offs”) date-stamped 1990 or newer: we need to see the date stamp and verify that it is new. If it doesn’t look new and has no date stamp, it must be tested.
- Used drywall (paint, mud, tape or texture) or pre-1990 drywall: you must give us an asbestos report showing no asbestos detected. We must have it on file before you offload.
Do you take appliances?
Yes. We take small appliances like toasters and microwaves, as well as larger appliances.
Do you take electronics?
Yes. We accept electronics for recycling.

What are your hours of operation?
We’re open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM. We’re closed Sundays and holidays.
Do you offer residential garbage pickup?
No. We don’t offer residential garbage pickup. You can bring household garbage to our transfer station.
Do you offer commercial garbage pickup?
Yes. We pick up daily, weekly or bi-weekly, whichever suits your business. For example (plus GST), a 65-gallon toter is $85/month weekly or $47/month bi-weekly, and a 2-cubic-yard toter is $230/month weekly or $125/month bi-weekly. For daily pickup, call 250-537-2167. What bin sizes do you rent?
We rent 12 yd³ bins for residential customers and 40 yd³ bins for commercial customers. See our Bin Rental page for details.
How much does a bin rental cost?
The 12 yd³ bin is $250 + a $13 scale fee, plus $0.41/kg and $10/day (drop-off and pick-up days are free). For 40 yd³ pricing, give us a call at 250-537-2167. Prices are subject to change; see our Bin Rental page.
Can you haul away asbestos?
Yes. We are licensed to transport asbestos. The full bin option is $0.50/kg + a $950 transport fee, and we help with the paperwork. See our Asbestos Hauling page for how to prepare and request service.
